This article is about the Proxi admin app at app.proxi.co, and the experience editor released September 15, 2026. Not sure which you have? Open your experience's participation link, the one participants use. If it starts with app.proxi.co, this is the right article. If it starts with map.proxi.co, yours is a legacy experience; look for the legacy article instead.
A Best Of is a ballot. People pick their favorite in each category, like Best Coffee Shop or Best Holiday Display, and you announce the winners. Create one from the Best Of page in the sidebar and you'll get a Voting tab in the editor with four sections: Ballot, Nominations, Voting Settings, and Display.
1. Where Categories Come From
Voting works with places from a collection, so first connect one (the wizard does this when you create the experience). Then, under Ballot, choose where your categories live under Categories Come From:
Pick a choice field your collection already has, or
click Create One For Me, and we add a field called Best Of Category.
Each option in that field is a category. This keeps everything in one place: adding a place to a category here updates the field on the listing too. With a multi-choice field, a place can compete in more than one category (Best Coffee and Best Patio).
2. Building the Ballot
Type a name under New category name and click Add Category. Open a category to add a short description voters will see, and click Add a place to search your listings. Places already in the collection come first; others show joins your places and are added to the collection when you pick them. There's also Someone new — add them as a brand-new place for a business you don't have yet.
3. Voting Settings
Picks Per Category — one pick means choosing a new place moves the vote; more than one lets people tap to add or remove picks. Unlimited is handy for gathering nominations, less so for crowning a winner.
How Often People Can Vote — Once — one ballot they can change anytime, or Once a day, Once a week, Once a month. Recurring voting gives people a reason to keep coming back; every ballot counts toward the totals.
Separate Voting Window — off means voting follows the experience dates. Turn it on to set Voting Opens and Voting Closes separately, useful when nominations run for the first two weeks.
Show Live Tallies — off keeps results hidden until voting closes. On makes it a race, fun for a people's choice on the day.
Results People Can See — Every place's vote count, Top 3 in each category, Top 2, or Just the winner. You always see the full standings.
4. Display
Category Layout is automatic (a grid once you have four or more categories), or choose Category grid or One page. Vote Button Text lets you change "Vote" to "Pick Me" or "This One!".
What Voters See
They sign up, land on the Vote tab, and tap their favorite in each category. The page tells them how many categories they've voted in and, with recurring voting, when they can vote again. When voting closes, they see The results are in! with the winners you chose to show.
Results and Export
On Participants & Activity → People, the Vote results section shows ballots so far and the standings per category, with a trophy on the leader and a note if it's a tie. Export CSV gives you category, entry, and votes for the announcement.
Good to Know
An I Voted badge appears in badge suggestions once a ballot exists. (See Badges, Points, and Prizes.)
Want the community to suggest the candidates first? See Letting People Nominate Places.
The Cook-Off Vote, Decorating Contest, People's Choice, and Best Patio templates each start with the right settings for that kind of contest.
Best Of contests made in the legacy editor are listed separately on the Best Of page under Made in the legacy editor, and still run exactly as they do today.
