Key Steps
1. Open the map and navigate to Filters 0:15
Log into Proxi.
Open the specific map you want to edit.
In the map editor, go to Map Style.
Select Filters to access the filter configuration options.
2. Enable or disable Advanced Filters 0:24
Locate the Show Advanced Filters toggle.
Turn it on if users need access to multiple filter types such as categories, tags, or other collection-field-based filters.
Use advanced filters when your map has several filter options and you want users to refine results more deeply.
3. Choose the best filter layout for simple maps 0:53
If your map only needs one primary filter type, such as categories, keep the field filters visible at the top of the map.
Decide whether the filters should fan out or display as a dropdown.
Select the layout that best matches the number of filters and the user experience you want to provide.
4. Configure special offer and field filter options 1:01
Review whether Special Offer should appear as a filter.
Adjust the available fields directly in this section if needed.
Confirm that the filters shown match the data fields you want users to interact with.
5. Add and configure the search bar 1:14
Enable the search bar at the top of the map if users should be able to search map content.
Confirm that search includes relevant point data such as:
Point names
Point descriptions
Other fields stored in Proxi
Verify that search results will surface matching points correctly.
6. Decide whether to suggest wider web results 1:29
Choose whether to allow suggestions from the wider web.
Enable this option if users may benefit from finding related places not already included on the map.
Use this feature carefully so it supports, rather than distracts from, the map experience.
7. Enable layer filters for shape-based map content 1:45
Go to the layer filters section.
Turn on Show Layer Filters if your map includes different shapes or layers.
Allow users to toggle layers on and off as part of their filtering experience.
Cautionary Notes
Advanced filters are best for maps with multiple filter types; avoid enabling them unnecessarily on simple maps.
If you show too many filter options, the map may feel cluttered or confusing to end users.
Make sure the fields and filters you expose match the data actually available in your map.
If enabling wider web suggestions, confirm that this behavior aligns with your map’s purpose and user expectations.
Tips for Efficiency
Use advanced filters when you have several categories, tags, or custom fields to reduce manual searching.
For simpler maps, keep filters at the top and use a dropdown to save space.
Enable the search bar to help users quickly find points without manually browsing the map.
Review filter settings after changes to ensure the user experience is clear and intuitive.
