Creating Tags

Tags help your map viewers filter points of interest. You can assign multiple tags to a single point. For example, you might tag a location as "Kid Friendly" and also add "$$" for the price range.

1. To add tags to your map, click on 'Categories & Tags' in the left-hand side menu.

2. Scroll down to the 'Tags and Tag Groups' section. To add a new tag, click the '+ New Tag' button.

3. You’ll have two options:

New Tag: Add a single tag to your map, such as 'Kid Friendly.'

New Tag Group: Create a collection of related tags, like 'Price Range' with sub-tags such as $, $$, and $$$.

4. To create a single tag, select 'New Tag.' Then, enter the name of your tag in the text box.

5. You can change the color of your tag by clicking 'edit' under the colored circle

6. Choose from our in-house color options, use the dropper tool to pick a color, or enter a HEX color code manually.

7. Click the 'Close' button to save and finish.

Adding Tags to Points

8. To apply a tag to a map point, click the point and then click the pencil icon to open the point editor.

9. In the point editor form, you’ll see your new tag listed. Click on the tag to apply it to the point.

10. Click 'Update Point' to save your changes.

Creating Tag Groups

11. To add a new Tag Group, go to the 'Categories & Tags' section, click 'New Tag,' and then select 'New Tag Group' from the drop-down menu.

12. Enter a name for your Tag Group in the 'Tag Group Name' textbox. To customize the color, click on the colored circle. You can choose from our in-house colors, use the dropper tool to pick a custom color, or enter a HEX code.

13. To add a sub-tag to your tag group, click the pencil icon on the 'New Sub Tag' button.

14. Enter the name of your sub-tag in the textbox and press Enter to save and add it.

15. To add another sub-tag, click '+ Add Sub-Tag.'

16. Add multiple sub-tags by typing each sub-tag name and pressing Enter.

Tip! To edit or make changes to your tags or tag groups, return to this step. Click the pencil icon next to the tag or sub-tag you want to modify, make your changes, and then click 'Close' to save and finish.

17. When you’re done adding your tag group, click 'Close' to save your changes and finish.

18. To apply your sub-tags, open the point you want to edit and click on the relevant sub-tags. You can select multiple sub-tags as needed. Click 'Update Point' to save and close.

Viewing and Filtering with Tags and Sub-Tags

19. To view your tags, click the tag icon next to the category list at the top of the map. You can filter points by selecting the tags or tag groups you want to use. Choose the specific tags or sub-tags to narrow down your results.

Deleting Tags and Tag Groups

20. To delete a tag or tag group, select the tag(s) you want to delete.

21. Then click 'Delete Tag'

NOTE! You will be asked to confirm your deletion. Deleting a tag will remove it from all associated points but will not delete the points themselves. Please note, this action cannot be undone.

22. Deleting a tag group works similarly. Click the tag group, then select 'Delete Group' to remove the group and all its sub-tags. To delete a single sub-tag, click the trash can icon next to it.

Make Bulk Changes to Tags and Sub-Tags with Spreadsheet View

Tip! Use the spreadsheet view to make bulk changes to tags, tag groups, and their associated points.

With the spreadsheet view, you can:

  • Add multiple tags and sub-tags to multiple points simultaneously

  • Remove associated tags

However, you cannot create new tags or tag groups through the spreadsheet view.
