This article is about the Proxi admin app at app.proxi.co, and the experience editor released September 15, 2026. Not sure which you have? Open your experience's participation link, the one participants use. If it starts with app.proxi.co, this is the right article. If it starts with map.proxi.co, yours is a legacy experience; look for the legacy article instead.
Before your passport, hunt, or guide opens to everyone, play through it yourself: scan your own sign, check in at a place or two, earn a badge. The way to do that is to be a tester. Testers can sign up and play before the start time, even while sign-ups are closed, and their plays stay off the leaderboard and out of your numbers.
You're Already One
Everyone on your workspace is already a tester. Open the participation link, sign up with the email you use for Proxi, and you're in early. The fastest route is View as participant in the editor header.
Adding a Teammate or Shop Owner as a Tester
To let someone outside your workspace try it, like a board member or the owner of the first stop:
Click Add a tester in the editor header (once you have testers, it moves into the sign-ups menu as Testers).
Type their email and click Add.
Send them the participant link. They sign up with that email and get in.
Anyone who's already signed up can be made a tester from their row on the Participants & Activity → People page: open their details and click Make tester. Adding a tester takes effect right away, even on a live experience.
What Testers Can and Can't Do
They can play before the start date, while sign-ups are on hold, and after the end.
They skip the payment step on a paid experience.
They still go through check-in verification. If a place needs a code, a scan, or a photo, testers do that too. To test from your desk, use the codes directly, or ease the rules under Check-in Rules while you test.
They're left out of the leaderboard, the Activity numbers, and the live feed automatically.
Cleaning Up Before Launch
Tester plays don't count in your numbers, so there's less to tidy than there used to be. If you'd rather a tester start fresh anyway, open their details and click Start them over: their points, check-ins, answers, and rewards go back to zero, and their sign-up stays. If a tester will keep playing for real after launch, Remove tester puts them back on the board.
Good to Know
Lost your place while testing on another phone? On their details, Copy their way back in gives a link that opens the experience on the sign-in step with their contact filled in.
The Activity page's Nobody has joined yet state has a shortcut to add a tester and print your signs, so the whole pre-launch routine is in one spot.
Running a legacy experience (built before September 15, 2026)? The tester flow there is different. See Testing Your Challenge or Scavenger Hunt Before Launch.
