Photos and Rich Descriptions on Your Places

Written by Melinda Haughey

This article is about the Proxi admin app at app.proxi.co.

Adding Photos

Open a place, expand its Photos row, and click Add photos. A few things to know:

  • We accept JPEG and PNG files, and you can upload several at once.

  • Drag the photo tiles to reorder them — the first photo is the one visitors see first.

  • Each photo can have a Caption, and the trash icon removes one.

  • If the place is connected to a listing, its photos are shared — adding or removing photos here updates the listing (and every other map showing it).

  • If there is no photos row yet, go to "Fields" in you collection and add photo-type field. You can add multiple of these if you wish. You should decide if the photos should live at the listing level or collection level, depending on your use case! Either are available to be shown in the map

Auto-Collected Photos

For well-known businesses, we can automatically show photos we find for the place so cards never look empty. If you'd rather show only photos you've uploaded, open the map editor's Point Card → Content section, find the Photo row, and uncheck Auto-collected photos.

Writing Rich Descriptions

A place's description supports formatting. Click the pencil on the Description row and use the toolbar for headings, bold, italics, bulleted and numbered lists, and links (select text and press Cmd/Ctrl + K to link it).

Embedding Videos and More

Want a video, song, or article preview right on the point card? Use the Embed a link as a card button in the description toolbar and paste the link — for example a YouTube video, a playlist, or a news story. While you're editing it shows as a small link chip; once you save, visitors see it as a rich preview card they can play or open without leaving your map.

The "Also Featured On" Strip

If a place appears on more than one of your maps, its card can show a small "Also featured on" strip linking to the others. You can turn this off per map: in the map editor, open Point Card → Content and flip the Also featured on switch at the bottom of the card layout.
