Adding Proxi to Your Website: Which Code to Use

Written by Melinda Haughey

This article is about the Proxi admin app at app.proxi.co.

Maps, directories, calendars, sign-up forms, leaderboards, photo feeds, and programs can all live on your own website. There are three ways to put them there, and the right one depends on which website builder you use. This article explains the three ways; the articles that follow cover WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, and the rest one at a time.

The Three Ways

  • Embed code — two short lines you copy from Proxi and paste into your site. This is the best option wherever it works: it sizes itself to fit, updates automatically, and looks right on phones. It's what you get from every Share → Embed button in Proxi.

  • A plain iframe — one line, a click away from the embed code in the same Share dialog. Use it on builders that only accept an iframe or a web address, or when the embed code won't show up.

  • A link or button — just your Proxi link. Use it on platforms that don't allow embeds at all (social media, link-in-bio pages, some community platforms). Visitors tap through to your map, which works great on phones.

Where to Get the Embed Code

  • Maps — click Share in the map editor's top bar, or open the Maps page, click the ⋮ menu on a map, choose Share, and open the Embed tab. Then Copy Code.

  • Directories — on the directory, open the Share panel and look for Embed on a website, then Copy code.

  • Experiences — click Share in the experience editor and choose the Embed tab. Pick Sign-Up Form, Leaderboard, or Photo Feed, then Copy code.

  • Calendar — click Share on the Events page and open the Embed tab. See Share Your Calendar: Links, Website Embeds and Subscriptions for the embed options.

  • Signup forms — open the form's share panel and click Copy code under the inline or button version.

  • Programs — click Share on the program and copy the embed code.

Switching to the Plain Iframe

Start with the embed code. If your builder won't take it (the platform articles below say which ones), switch to the plain iframe: in the same Embed tab, click Site builder won't take this? Use a plain iframe instead under the code. The box changes to a one-line iframe. Copy it the same way, and click Back to the embed code if you change your mind.

Two things to know about the iframe:

  • It stays the height you give it. The code sets a starting height that suits what you're embedding; change the height number to fit your page. A map looks good around 600 to 700, a sign-up form around 500 to 600.

  • It always shows the thing itself. Options that need a little script, like a pop-up button for a sign-up form or the calendar's poster view, aren't available in the iframe.

Some builders only take a web address rather than code. The address is shown right under the plain iframe code, so you can copy it from there.

There's also a small Need help embedding? link under every embed code that brings you back to this article.

If It Doesn't Show Up

  • Publish first. Several builders (GoDaddy, Carrd, and some WordPress page builders) show a placeholder or an error in the editor and only render the real thing on the published page. Open the live page before deciding it's broken.

  • Check your plan. Some builders only allow custom code on paid tiers — Squarespace's Code block, WordPress.com below the Business plan, Webflow on a free site, Carrd's free plan. The platform articles below say which.

  • A message about "cookie" or "sandboxed"? That means the builder is showing your page inside a locked-down preview frame. Usually the published page is fine. If the live page shows it too, use a link or button to your map instead, and let us know which builder you're on.

  • Try the plain iframe, then a link. One of the three always works.

  • Still stuck? Send us the address of the page you're adding it to and which builder you use. Seeing the live page is the fastest way for us to help.
