Several Ways To Pay For One Level

Written by Melinda Haughey

This article is about the Proxi admin app at app.proxi.co.

A paid level can be sold more than one way. Monthly beside yearly is the obvious one. The other is charging different kinds of member a different amount for exactly the same thing — an individual pays one rate, a nonprofit another, a shop another, and all three see the same content.

These aren't steps up a ladder. They sit side by side on one level, which is why they all unlock the same items. A program has one paid level, and this is how it sells more than one way.

Adding Another Way To Pay

On the Who Can Join tab, open the menu on your paid level and choose Add a Way to Pay. Give it a name people will recognize — "Business," "Nonprofit," "Student" — and set the amount. It shows up on the join page next to the others.

Yearly works the same way. When you add a paid level you can set a yearly price right there, and the join page shows both with the saving worked out for you.

What Someone Joining Sees

One price shows as a plain figure. Two or more become a short list they pick from before they pay. Whichever one they choose, they land on the same level and see the same things — the price only decides what they're charged.

You can mark one as the Default, and that's the one already selected when the page opens. It's the gentlest way to steer people toward the option you'd rather they take.

Keeping A Rate Off The Page

A rate you'd rather not publish next to full price can be switched to Link Only and sent by its own link. See Keeping A Level Or Price Off The Join Page.

Good To Know

  • A saving badge only appears for a real yearly discount. Two rates at the same interval are two rates, not a discount, so we don't pretend otherwise.

  • One checkout, one level. Somebody joins at one price at a time, and holds one membership at a time. Switching from one paid rate to another means cancelling first (Manage membership on the join page), then joining again.

  • Changing a price affects new joins. People already paying stay on what they signed up for until they cancel.

  • Not every rate has to be public. See Keeping A Level Or Price Off The Join Page.
